The Boxcar Children Movie Review & Giveaway!
Ends 8/22/14
My Abuelito (Grandpa) grew up in a boxcar. His family lived in a very small town in Colorado that is now a ghost town. I love hearing his stories about growing up in that old boxcar. As a child The Boxcar Children was my favorite book series. It was neat to read this book and know that my Grandfather and his 5 siblings were raised in a box car with their parents. In fact the whole town was made up of box cars for the people to live in.
A few years ago I introduced my daughter to The Boxcar Children. She quickly took to the books and reads them often. When I was a child my Mom knew how much I loved them so she signed me up for a Boxcar Children’s Book Club. I received two new books each month and have since acquired over 100 of the books!
The movie goes right along with the first book. In this story the children lose both of their parents and are orphaned. They know that they should legally go to their Grandfather. But, that though scares them as they have never met him. They just know that something happened in the past and he was not around for them or their Mother. As the children embark on an adventure to stay together they come across an old boxcar which they quickly turn into a home.
On The Back
Four orphaned and homeless siblings happen upon an abandoned boxcar, which, with a little creativity and hard work, they gradually furnish with all the comforts of home. Fearful that they will be sent to live with the reputedly cruel grandfather they have never met, the children keep their new home a secret – until a serious illness forces them to reveal themselves in order to save young Violet.
How would you like to win a copy of The Boxcar Children on DVD? I am happy to say that one lucky US or Canadian reader will be able to do just that! But, remember….if you have won this title on another blog you are not eligible to win here! 🙂 Good Luck!
