Mine Is The Night Book Review

Mine Is The Night
By Liz Curtis Higgs
SHELOST EVERYTHING SHE LOVED.
HE HAD EVERYTHING SHE NEEDED.
BUT COULD SHE FIND THE COURAGE TO TRUST HIM?

Stepping from a battered coach on a rainy April eve, newly widowed ElisabethKerr must begin again, without husband or title, property or fortune. She isunafraid of work and gifted with a needle, but how will she stitch together thetattered remnants of her life? And who will mend her heart, torn asunder bybetrayal and deception?

Elisabeth has not come to Selkirk alone. Her mother-in-law,Marjory Kerr, is a woman undone, having buried her husband, her sons, and anypromise of grandchildren. Dependent upon a distant cousin with meagerresources, Marjory dreads the future almost as much as she regrets the past.Yet joy still comes knocking, and hope is often found in unexpected places.

Then a worthy hero steps forward, rekindling a spark of hope. Willhe risk his reputation to defend two women labeled as traitors to the Crown? Orwill a wealthy beauty, untainted by scandal, capture his affections?

The heartrending journey of the Kerr women comes to aglorious finish in Mine Is the Night, a sparkling gem of redemption andrestoration set in eighteenth-century Scotland.

My Thoughts
You all have been told time and again just how much I lovehistorical fiction books! This book was amazing and even with the amount ofpages I was still finished with this book in 24 hours! (Because I could not putit down!)
Mine Is The Night has captivating characters and I love how wellportrayed they are. I could really invasion myself on the same journey thatElisabeth took! She was desperate to make a living and support her dear MotherIn Law. Both women had been through some very terrible times with the loss ofthe Kerr men in the family. They were disgraced and had everything taken fromthem because the Kerr men did not support the King. Now with nothing left theKerr women must leave their home and journey to a small village where a poor familymember resides! But, would she take them in? Would she show kindness to them? And, If she did would they ever be accepted by the villagers? Would Elisabethever find love again?
I love this story. I had never read any of Liz Curtis Higgs worksbefore but now after reading Mine Is The Night I know that I will be on thelookout for everything and anything she has had published!
