Where are you from? and a little bit about you?

My name is Tara Welch. I am from the small town of Sarnia, Ontario. I currently work at a le chateau store in Sarnia. I recently graduated from the fashion design program at Fanshawe College. One day I hope to design prom and bridal wear gowns.

What items do you carry in your shop?

In my shop you can find summer day dresses

, skirts, knit hats, and jewelry.

How did you decide on your shop name?
My shop name was suggested to me by a friend. Its a mix of my name and the kind of products I sell. I really like it.

Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?

I am going to be adding pyjama pants to my store very soon because once the weather starts getting cold here, people wont be buying any dresses or skirts.

Do you have a blog, twitter, or facebook page?

I have a blog, you can find it here http://tarapparel.blogspot.com/

What is your inspiration when making a new item?

I am usually inspired by the materials I am using. Especially fabric, I just need to see the fabric and it’s as if the fabric tells me what to design.

What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?

Any of the clothing, because I enjoy sewing and I know that while I work on those items, I am also keeping up my skills that I learned in school.

Anything else you would like us to know?

Most of the fabric I use is purchased at fabricland, and I normally use fabric that is 100% cotton, or at least have cotton in it. I always do a pre-wash with all my fabric, so you don’t have to worry about your clothes shrinking on you. I also add vinegar to the pre-wash because it helps keep the colours from running and keeps the vibrant.
