Getting to know henatayeb
Where are you from? and a little bit about youMy name is Hena Tayeb. Born in Chicago, Illinois and packed up and moved to Karachi, Pakistan when I was ten. May not have been enthused about it in the beginning but learned to love the country and its culture. I’m in my mid twenties, married two and a half years and just had my first baby. A beautiful baby boy. I love to take pictures, but hate to have mine taken.
What items do you carry in your shop?
I sell photographs and art prints. I love finding unusual abstracts in places you see everyday, I love photographing hands, they tell so much about a persons character, I like photographing ordinary items in a way that they appear extraordinary.
How did you decide on your shop name?Well that wasn’t too hard since my shop is named after myself. The photographs I take are a reflection how I see the world. I could find no word to describe it. I chose my name to represent me because I am the brand. When you buy my work you buy a piece of the world the way I see it.
Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?
I just had a baby so I don’t think I will be able to manage anything new at this point in time but I would like to give the option of my art prints being available as greeting cards as well as making calendars, hopefully for 2012.

What is your inspiration when making a new item?Everything around me is an inspiration for a new photograph.. an old tire, buildings, worn down doors a plain old lamp..
