I’m from the UK-North West to be precise. I live in a little seaside town, where nothing much happens! I work part time as a tutor. I like to paint and make jewellery in my spare time (which I have in abundance at the moment!) I started to make jewellery when I got fed up seeing the same designs in every shop. I wanted to wear something a little bit different.I mostly make necklaces, although I am hoping to start making some earrings in the near future.
My name is a combination of the things I love. Anything kitsch and anything vintage. I am constantly on the look out for both of these, hence the name ‘magpie’. I needed a name to sign up for Etsy, and I wish I had chosen more wisely..no one ever remembers the name!
I am currently in the process of making some wooden, striped pendants. Sounds strange, but I think they will turn out great! I have also started to make some quirky pendants with pretty bows which are available on my facebook page. I’m open to ideas, and have made necklaces for friends to certain specifications.
What else to add? I’m a true Brit. I love nothing more than a good old cup of tea!
I had never seen a Kokeshi dolls necklace before. In fact until I read about it at Vintage Kitsch Magpie’s Etsy shop I had never even heard of a Kokeshi doll! What a cute and creative idea. I received a blue Kokeshi Doll from Vintage Kitsch Magpie to review and I love the hand painted detail that is in my doll! There are also some very small etches into the Kokeshi doll to enhance the decoration. Again as with each piece I review I pulled and nothing came loose. The chain also seems to hold up very well to everyday use. My favorite detail in the Kokeshi doll necklace is the bow and charm at the end of the chain. This is something that most etsy sellers do not do but I think they all should. It just adds that personal touch of class to the necklace and I love it!
