Where are you from? and a little bit about you
I am from Northern IL. I am a stay at home mom of 4 amazing kids. My husband Karl and I work together on everything.
What items do you carry in your shop?
We carry hand cut semiprecious stone cabochons, mainly used for jewelry making.How did you decide on your shop name?
Cabbing Rough is what you call a rock we would start with. I like the name because I feel it gives credit to nature for creating our stones in rough form.
Do you have a favorite stone?
I do, but it changes daily!! Right now I am really in love with the new Landscape Jasper Karl bought me on our anniversary 🙂
How did you get started cutting stone?I started making beaded jewelry as a hobby, and my boys started collecting rocks at the same time. Karl and I had a lapidary equipment catalog on our kitchen counter for about 6 months. It was ripped to shreds from us drooling over it. Lapidary equipment is VERY expensive, so we never thought we actually be able to do this. Then, as luck would have it, I ran into a man at a flea market with used equipment. He was so excited we were interested, he sold the machines to us for almost nothing! That was such an exciting day, Karl about fell over when I came home with our new machines, it was a complete shock.
