The Vintage Remedies Guide to Real Foods Review and GiveawayCLOSED

On The Back

“Eat healthy real, whole foods.” Everyone has heard the advice, but it appears nobody can quite define what that means in real life. Is a healthy food one that is low fat? Vegetarian? Low carb? High fiber? What about oils, butter, or red meat? Jessie Hawkins, author of The Handbook of Vintage Remedies, addresses the food confusion head on, in an easy and straightforward way.

My Thoughts

At the beginning of this year I made a plan that I was going to start eating healthier. I have always enjoyed fresh fruits and veggies and I so far have done a wonderful job but, I am missing out on some of the food I know I should be eating but did not know how to find the healthy way to eat it. This book is amazing. There is too much to tell you about so I am just going to tell you some of my favorite parts.

#1 There is a brilliant ‘Where to begin’ in this book. I have had a hard time trying to cut everything out in one shot. Jessie gives you ideas on how to do it a little at a time instead of all at once like I was doing. She also has made a list of the items you should start changing in your diet. I love this feature because I did not know a lot of these items and now that I have read the book it all makes so much sense!

#2 Recipes, Recipes, Recipes!! We have recently started my daughter on a Gluten Free diet and it is killing her. (So she thinks) Her favorite food is Chicken Nuggets and she has not been able to eat them in months. Jessie has come up with a Recipe for Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets along with so many other healthy recipes. Another one that I love is Electrolyte Drinks that will come in handy the next time my little one is sick!

#3 the hardest thing I have found when eating healthier is the budget. Let’s face it. Health food is more expensive! In this book Jessie will help you to understand that you can eat healthy and not hurt your pocket book!!

#4 Jessie explains the medicine value of food. With all of the medicine recalls the past few years I have cut back on my intake and have started shopping at the health store for natural medicines a lot more than I usually did. I am glad that Jessie put a Medicine section in this book. There are so many wonderful fruits and veggies that will help us when we need that extra boost!
