Glitter Grapes! – Great Healthy Snack for School Lunches!
Glitter Grapes With school back in session have have been racking my brain trying to come up with new ideas for my daughters school lunches. My goal is to pack healthy lunches for my daughter but also add a variety of great tasting foods that she will love to eat while she is away. One of the snacks I have been making here recently is Glitter Grapes. Well this is the name that my daughter has given to her new favorite snack 'Jello Grapes'. I had never heard of adding Jello to grapes before but one of my friends told me about it and so we decided to give it a try! Glitter Grapes are very easy to make! Just take 1b of grapes, remove them from the stem and wash thoroughly. Once grapes are washed place them on paper towel to help remove excess water. As grapes are slightly drying on paper towel you can empty a box of dry Jello mix into a bowl. The Jello can be an flavor you choose. My daughter wanted Peach Jello for this recipe. Once the … [Read more...]
Breakfast Crepes
Breakfast Crepes These sweet little breakfast crepes (called French Pancakes by some people and Swedish Pancakes by others) are light and flavorful, with delicate, crispy brown lacy edges. Filled with cinnamon sugar or berries and topped with a spoonful of whipped cream, they make a wonderful company breakfast or weekend tradition. They are surprisingly simple to make, but it is much easier to keep plates filled if two people are working together. Children enjoy being enlisted to butter, fill, and roll the crepes. A non-stick pan makes the crepes easy to flip. You may even want to get creative and flip them in the air! Larger pans make bigger crepes–which means less time cooking. Hold each crepe together with a toothpick, if desired, but make sure it shows clearly to avoid unpleasant surprises. Use your imagination with the filling; almost any fruit or jam goes well with crepes. If you have extra batter, cook the crepes and wrap them well … [Read more...]

Rubber Egg – How To Remove The Shell From The Egg
Rubber Egg - How To Remove The Shell From The Egg Most of you know that I have finally taken the plunge into home schooling. I have been spending my days planning out lessons, scheduling classes and coming up with experiments. One of the experiments I am looking forward to the most is taking the shell off the egg. It is super easy to do and something that I know my daughter will love! How To: 1-2 cups of vinegar (Fill your container of choice about half way) One Egg In 3 Days and you will have a transformation. To start off the experiment let your child play around with the egg. Notice how the shell looks and feels. Record your findings in your Science journal (if you keep one). Then place the egg into the vinegar and notice the bubbles around the egg. Make sure to check on your experiment every day. If you keep a science journal it would be a good idea to document what you see each morning. On day three you will find that the shell is completely gone … [Read more...]
