Broiled Grapefruit
When I first heard of Broiled Grapefruit I thought "Are you nuts?" But since I am adventurous when it comes to food I went to the store and purchased a bunch of different grapefruits and decided to give them a try. Ingredients: 4 Grapefruit1 Tbs Ground Cinnamon1 Tbs White Sugar4 tsp Butter The first thing you will need to do is pre-heat your broiler. (I put mine on low) The next step is to cut your grapefruit in half. Use a small knife to cut along each triangle section. Remove sections discarding all thick skin and pulp. Place the sections into a bowl. After the sections are cut out and the think skin is removed you will need to dish the cut sections back into the grapefruit halves. Sprinkle Cinnamon and Sugar over each half and place pad of butter on half as well. Place on cookie sheet and Broil 3-5 minutes or until butter is melted. I originally found this recipe on Allrecipes.com … [Read more...]

Cooking Pasta in a Coffee Pot!
Growing up and moving out of your parents house can be hard! I know that when I first moved out I was broke and living off of pasta and anything else that was cheap! I also learned fun ways to cook things that did not require much effort on my part. One thing I learned how to do and still do today is cook spaghetti noodles in my coffee pot. Sadly since I am not a coffee drinker this is about the only thing that I use my coffee pot for. All you will need to do is fill your coffee pot up all the way full of water. Mine is a 12 cup pot and so I do the full 12 cups full of water. After pouring the water in the coffee maker to get heated up I place the pasta inside my coffee pot coming out of the spout. Then I turn the pot on! - No filter needed! When the water is about half way in the coffee pot I slowly push the rest of the pasta into the pot as the bottom is soft and it will allow the top to cook! - When the water is fully in the pot and the noodles are all soft I just drain … [Read more...]
DIY Pickle Jar Candy Dishes!
Recenlty I found a great idea at a local craft fair in town and if you know me at all you know that when I see a craft I have to try to figure it out myself! - The craft was a pickle jar candy dish! Since seeing that cute craft I have now made many of them and love how fun they are to make and how neat they look in the house! Recently I also made some for Christmas gifts for my loved ones! First I took an empty pickle/pepper jar and washed it out and removed the label. Second I painted a wooden candle stick white along with the lid of the pepper jar (I found the candle sticks at Michaels, they also had glas candle sticks that will work well) After I painted the lid and candle stick I took E6000 glue and glued the jars onto the candle sticks. After the glue has dried I filled the jar full of candy! It really was that easy!! There is also a Pottery Barn coupon code for those looking for discounts on household items … [Read more...]

Guest Post-DIY Fabric Softener
Many of you may or may not know the risks involved in thesimple act of adding a cup of fabric softener in your kids’ load oflaundry. How can something as fuzzy andadorable as a teddy bear named Snuggle be bad for your kids? Pretty easily, as it turns out. The main ingredients of most fabric softenersare as follows: · Surfactants · Fragrance · Undenatured ethyl alcohol Surfactants are in everything and can be harmless if madefrom safe sources like vegetables instead of sodium lauryl sulfates. Fragrances, however, are tricky; companiesaren’t required to release the ingredients of fragrances to protect their tradesecrets. This means they could be usingbleach for fragrance, if bleach would sell. Meanwhile, ethyl alcohol has been suspected of causing liver damage andbeing an endocrine disruptor. Ghost Pines Chardonnay Review
My Thoughts on Ghost Pines Chardonnay I am not a drinker but I do love to cook with wine. So when offered the opportunity to review wine I could not say no. In fact I have enough wine to feature one a month for the next year. So that's just what I am going to do. This month will be the Ghost Pines Chardonnay which by the way was amazing! For the recipe my daughter decided to cook a meal for my husband and I here goes 1 lb Muscles pre-cooked 1 lb Shrimp 1 lb Scallops Spaghetti can sauce 1/4c white wine 2 cloves finely chopped garlic My daughter just put all the ingredients into a sauce pan and cooked until warm. It was amazing. I love the flavors of apples, pears, and vanilla that can be tasted in the Chardonnay. It was a delicious meal. Ghost Pines Chardonnay (on the back of the bottle) In 1964 Louis P. Martini, son of Napa pioneer Louis M. Martini, purchased 178 acres of land in the eastern hills of Napa Valley. The Martini family developed this land into a … [Read more...]

Next time I will know that I need a little less Beef Base. I had to thinly slice 5 cups of onions and I tell you my house did not smell too pretty. But it was fun to make.
