He Is Risen Easter Treats

Posted on February 16, 2016 / By: Krista 31 Comments

He Is Risen Easter Treats As most of you know I am the Primary President in my ward. I love being with these children and hearing their growing testimonies. I also love being able to spoil them once in a while with cute little treats that can go along with a lesson. This year I plan on making my Primary kids some adorable He Is Risen Easter Treats. These treats will not only help to get the kids excited for Easter...but will also help them to remember that Easter is not just about celebrating with cute little bunnies and brightly colored eggs. Easter is about the resurrection. Jesus not only atoned for our sins and died on the cross for us...but he showed us that life does not end at death. We can ALL live again!  Matthew 28:6 ~ He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.    Ingredients:   Graham Crackers 1 Container of Whipped Icing Food Coloring Chocolate Mini Donuts Mini Oreo Cookies Sticky Back … [Read more...]

Healthy Salad Dressing Replacement + Recipe with Daisy Brand Cottage Cheese! #DaisyCottageCheese #DaisyDifference

Posted on November 3, 2014 / By: Krista 31 Comments

This article is sponsored by Daisy Brand Healthy Salad Dressing Replacement + Recipe with Daisy Brand Cottage Cheese! I purchase Cottage Cheese every time I go to the grocery store. Because of it's versatility Daisy Brand Cottage Cheese has become a staple in my home. My husband loves to put it in his lasagna, my daughter eats it plain or with fruit and I love it as a salad dressing replacement. I must admit that growing up I had never thought to put Cottage Cheese on my salads. But when I was attending my local Colorado high school we had an awesome salad bar in the lunch room. Every day my friend Kayla would put Cottage Cheese on her salad. I found this intriguing and one day she convinced me to give it a try. From that moment I was hooked! Instead of topping my daily salads with high calorie salad dressing I started using cottage cheese with a little salt and pepper! It was a quick and easy swap that allowed me to get more of the healthy protein that I needed! Now … [Read more...]

Edible Plant Cell – HomeSchooling Fun!

Posted on September 11, 2014 / By: Krista 13 Comments

Edible Plant Cell - HomeSchooling Fun! I love home schooling my daughter. We enjoy learning together and also coming up with fun crafts or recipes to make her learning experience more hands on and fun. Recently we were studying about plant cells. I thought it would be fun to actually make a plant cell that we could eat. My daughter loved that idea and immediately sat down with a pen and paper to come up with her ideas and a grocery list. This was fun and educational because my daughter had to look at each feature of a plant cell and pick and choose what items would work best and actually look like they do in real life. For example she decided that the Golgi Body looked more like string candy and the Nucleus looked more round like a hard cinnamon candy. Of course after making the list of candy and sweets my daughter could not wait to make this tasty plant cell model. So we rushed out to the store and purchased our extensive list of sweet goodies. When we got home … [Read more...]

Posted on August 23, 2014 / By: Krista 42 Comments

Glitter Grapes   With school back in session have have been racking my brain trying to come up with new ideas for my daughters school lunches. My goal is to pack healthy lunches for my daughter but also add a variety of great tasting foods that she will love to eat while she is away. One of the snacks I have been making here recently is Glitter Grapes. Well this is the name that my daughter has given to her new favorite snack 'Jello Grapes'. I had never heard of adding Jello to grapes before but one of my friends told me about it and so we decided to give it a try!   Glitter Grapes are very easy to make! Just take 1b of grapes, remove them from the stem and wash thoroughly.  Once grapes are washed place them on paper towel to help remove excess water. As grapes are slightly drying on paper towel you can empty a box of dry Jello mix into a bowl. The Jello can be an flavor you choose. My daughter wanted Peach Jello for this recipe.   Once the … [Read more...]

Turkey Taco Bites   I have been focusing on eating healthy this year. Basically if it is not healthy then I don't want to put it into my body. This has actually been a lot easier then I anticipated. I cleaned out all the cupboards and freezers of all the junk and I make sure that I am not hungry when I go grocery shopping..that helps me stick to my list better. :) One of the ways I have been focusing on eating healthy is by cutting down on the amount of red meat that my family eats. We have been trying out new recipes that contain fish, chicken and turkey.   Ingredients for Turkey Taco Bites -   1 lb. ground turkey 1 packet of taco seasoning (any brand) ½ C. shredded cheese 3-4 romaine leaves, ripped to fit the tortilla chips ½ C. diced tomatoes Sour Cream (optional) Taco Sauce (optional) 1 bag of regular size tortilla chips   Directions -   #1.
