My Thoughts on The Portable Pediatrician Being a Mother can be difficult, especially when it is your firstchild. I know that each time my daughter coughed, sneezed, or had anythingdifferent looking about her I jumped to family members for advice but when theywere at work I turned to books. That is where the PortablePediatrician could have come in handy had I known of it then!   The Portable Pediatrician is a huge book that has a little ofeverything you will need to know about your growing child. When I sayeverything I do mean Everything! It is almost like a dictionary for everythingchildren! I have read many different parts of this book including sections onAllergies, Birthmarks, Eating problems, Sprains and Broken Bones, or evenThyroid issues. The Healing Code Review

Posted on February 26, 2011 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on The Healing Code By Alexander Loyd, PhD, ND with Ben Johnson, MD, DO, NMD I have many aspects in my life that I would like to change. For examplefor the past 5 years I have been trying to conceive another child. It is justsomething that the Lord has not allowed to happen yet and at times it is hard. The Healing Code is said to help with issues of the mind, body, and heart. So Ifigured it was worth a shot! Right? At the beginning of the book I became hooked. I was inspired andexcited over the words I was reading. This seemed to really be working forpeople! Both Doctors included God and his powers of healing in this book and Iwas also thrilled at this as some Doctors do not talk about the powers of Godonly about medicine! After the first 3-4 chapters I started to get lessinterested. Not because I felt that what the Doctors were saying was not truebut because I felt that it was taking forever to get to the point. I wanted thesteps to the Healing Code! I … [Read more...]

A Lady In Waiting Review

Posted on February 16, 2011 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Lady in Waiting By Susan Meissner Historical Fiction is my all time favorite genera. I love to read aboutwhat life might have been like in olden times! I don’t even care about whatera! Just some place different than it is now! When I first started to read Lady in Waiting it did not expect it tohave a historical twist to it. I was reading about a lady whose husband just upand left her. No signs or clues were given that he was about to leave, he justup and left one day. What a horrible situation in life to live through. Ienjoyed reading about Jane and the feelings that she was dealing with duringthis hard, emotional time. But then the story took a twist! It went back intime to yet another Jane. The story is centered around a ring that was given toLady Jane in the Medieval times. It later finds itself on the hand of thecurrent Jane and helps her get through some really tough times. I was veryimpressed with how well the Author played out both stories. Sometimes … [Read more...]

Posted on January 23, 2011 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Lastingness The Art of Old Age By Nicholas Delbanco I was recently able to review the title Lastingness: The Art of Old Ageby Nicholas Delbanco. To be honest I had a very hard time getting into thisbook and felt that it was way over my head. This was unfortunate as I waslooking forward to this title. Age has been an important factor in many aspects of day to day life.Where younger is better in many instances in others we look toward a more knowledgeableelder! Nicholas Delbanco talks about many famous and wonderful influencers fromour past and teaches us why some of them had many amazing talents at a young agewhere as with some the talent seemed to grow with age. Threads West by Reid Lance Rosenthal Review

Posted on January 22, 2011 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Threads West By Reid Lance Rosenthal I am a sucker for a good western book so I knew that this bookwould be right up my alley! Threads West by Reid Lance Rosenthal is a storyabout seven characters. They are each on different paths in life that lead themto the New World- America! In the start of the book there is a chapter for eachof the seven main characters each have a chapter about them so you can reallyget into the story and know what their life is about. Usually I don’t likebooks with chapters that break everything up like that but Reid Lance Rosenthaldid it in a way that captivated each life and the book would not have been asgood if he did not decide to do it in that way. Of course not all of the characters in the book are good. But evenwith the bad you will see an insight into their life that will help you to havean emotional sentiment toward them…but not with everything they do! There were parts of this book that had me smiling from ear … [Read more...]

Lee (The Generals) Book Review

Posted on December 10, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Lee (The Generals) A Life of Virtue By John Perry I love learning about fun stuff that happened in the past. History type books are the best. That is why I could not wait to read Lee The Generals by John Perry! This book truly took me on a journey of the life that General Lee lived. Everything from Lee’s childhood, to his marriage, and then through the birth and lives of his children. I learned each place that Lee traveled during his time in the military as well as some interesting facts that happened to his children such as his son who accidentally cut off his fingers at a young age. General Lee helped me to better understand the thoughts and actions of a military icon that I had heard so much about but never really knew. I love the writing style of John Perry and I don't think that Perry could have done it any better. It is an easy to understand book and flows nicely. Another aspect of the book I enjoyed was the catchy cover. I know that many tell you don’t … [Read more...]

Skeletons In The Swimmin Hole Book Review

Posted on November 27, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Skeletons In The Swimmin Hole: Tales from Haunted Disney World By Kristi Peterson Schoonover When you think of the words "Walt Disney world" I bet the last thing you would think is haunted ghost stories. That was until I came across the book Skeletons In The Swimmin Hole: Tales From Haunted Disney World by Kristi Peterson Schoonover.   At first I did not know what to expect. I mean its Disney World and I did not know if I would want to read horror stories about the famous theme park. But after reading the first story I realized that these stories were not half as bad as I first thought.   ‘Skeletons in the Swimmin Hole’ is about experiences at Disney world that have haunted people in one sense or another. It was almost depressing to hear of the traumatic events that some have had at such a magical place. But then again that is what makes horror stories so awesome right? Plus for Kristi to write about them to taking place at the land of magic is unique and … [Read more...]
