Find A Way by Merril Hoge Review

Posted on November 15, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Find A Way: three words that changed my life forever By Merril Hoge I have not been very close to cancer. I have had a Grandpa die from cancer but he got so sick, so fast, that chemotherapy really was not an issue. Find A Way: Three Words That Changed My Life by Merril Hoge took me through steps of cancer that I have never thought about. I was in tears before I even got to page ten. In fact, I read some of the parts to my husband who also lost a grandfather to cancer and my husband was in ‘Ah’ about what I read to him.   Merril's book will take you on am inspirational journey and show you that the impossible can come true. Our mindset in life can take us far in life as long as we stay positive and take care of what needs to be done. We can "find a way" through anything that life throws at us. If Merrill and a million other people can put liquid death through their veins to try to live, then I can get through my problems in life that seem so small and minor … [Read more...]

The Coming of The Economic Armageddon Review

Posted on November 14, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts The Coming Of the Economic Armageddon By Dr. David Jeremiah The Coming Of The Economic Armageddon by Dr. David Jeremiah, Is one of the most eye opening books I have read in a long time! The book starts out talking about the national debt. Wow! I had never really thought twice about it and don't know a lot about politics or how the government comes up with their money or what they do with it. I have always wanted to know more but never knew how to learn about it. Dr. David Jeremiah breaks it down for you completely. Even down to how Medicare and social security was started and exactly how much we owe to what countries. I found this book flat out frightening in some parts. Don’t get me wrong I am so glad to have read this book! But to look at what is happening to the U.S. on a much deeper level was crazy. Dr. David Jeremiah also talks about everything from a biblical perspective. The things that are happening have been predicted by prophets and teachers in the bible. Dr. … [Read more...]

The Church Awakening by Charles R. Swindoll Review

Posted on November 13, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on The Church Awakening By Charles R. Swindoll The Church Awakening The Urgent Call For Renewal by Charles R. Swindoll is a book about the erosion in religion. Charles talks about how many churches and religions are going off track. It used to be that every Sunday people went to church in their Sunday best with their bible in hand. Now some people are lucky if they even remember to bring the bible along. I myself see what the author is talking about to some extent. But on the other hand, I am so firm in my faith and I don't feel that any of that is happening in my church so it is a little harder for me to relate.   While reading the first chapter of The Church Awakening I could not put the book down. But by the end if the second chapter I has lost interest. I felt that it was the same things over and over again. I agree with many of the points that Charles was making but I also feel that the points could have gotten across to the reader in fewer words. Buy … [Read more...]

God and Sex by Michael Coogan

Posted on October 29, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on God and Sex By Michael Coogan When first given the option to review God and Sex by Michael Coogan I was unsure. But then again there was just something about the book that made me want to read it.   God and Sex is an easy read. Meaning that I understood the words and I did not feel that everything was over my head. But, I will say there were some parts that I completely disagree with and some that even made me a little angry as I am a firm believer in my faith. But then again there were some parts that I loved and learned a lot about! Such as the community that was formed and later wrote the Dead Sea scrolls. All in all I am impressed with the writing of Michael Coogan and I am glad to have read this book. It might not have been the best book but once I got past the parts that I disliked then I really started to enjoy it. I give God and Sex by Michael Coogan a three star rating. Buy It! My Thoughts on The Next Great Move Of God  By Dr. Lasalle R. Vaughn The Next Great Move Of God: Christians returning to their Hebraic Roots By Dr. Lasalle R. Vaughn is a fascinating read. Dr. Lasalle went deep into discussions that I have always wanted to know more about. Such as Isabella of castle and the religion she started back in the days of Columbus or who does Israel really belong to? Each part if this book was truly fascinating and I enjoyed reading about the differences in religions past present and future! The Next Great Move Of God is about the Jewishness in Jesus. The book will teach you to live the Bible completely so that your life may change for the better. I have always wondered the differences of Jewish faith and Christianity. Raising The Dead Review

Posted on October 27, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Raising The Dead By Chauncey W. Crandall I am a firm believer in God and his miracles! I love that Raising The Dead by Chauncey W. Crandall IV, MD is all about the miracles that happen in medicine. Something that made this book and Chauncey’s words more touching was the story of his own child. I was uplifted to read about the amazing things that can happen in life. I have always heard about stories about people coming back from the dead but I have never had the privileged of reading the whole story or how it happened! No matter what life throws at me I know that the Lord is there. I also believe fully in the Holy Ghost and the power that you can feel or even the words you can hear through the miracle if God. Raising The Dead is a book about a doctor that did not have a strong relationship with God in the beginning but through life experiences and miracles DR Crandell was able to build his relationship and witness amazing feats along the way. Without A Word by Jill Kelly

Posted on October 27, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

My Thoughts on Without A Word By Jill Kelly I love reading biographies about celebrities because it just makes me realize that they really are people with everyday issues just like you and me. Without A Word by Jill Kelly was a very uplifting book. Every parent hopes and wishes for a healthy child. Some are fortunate with healthy children and others are not but no matter what situation you are dealt with all that matters in the long run is what you do with it. Jill Kelly goes through everything in this book from the beginning of her and Jim’s relationship to the marriage starting to fail and the trying times of having a sick child. I also love that no matter what Jim and Jill found the positive and was held together by the love they felt for their children. Without A Word is about how a boy’s unspoken life changed everything. It focuses on the life of Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill's son Hunter who was born with a disease that crushed his parent’s dreams of a … [Read more...]

My Thoughts on FreeSpirit Publishing I have told you all time and time again about the importance if children’s books. Books are a learning path into a Childs mind. Freespirit Publishing is one of those book companies that believe in your child and their little imaginations. FreeSpirit Publishing carries books for all children as well as books about topics that children need to learn about such as Professional development, Bullying, Emotional Learning, and Social Skills, just to name a few. Max Lucado Out Live Your Life Review

Posted on September 10, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

On The Back Dear Friend, May I share a story that is very dear to my heart? It’s a story of hillbillies and simple folk, net casters and tax collectors. A story of a movement that exploded like a just-opened fire hydrant out of Jerusalem and spilled into the ends of the earth: into the streets of Paris, the districts of Rome, and the ports of Athens, Istanbul, Shanghai, and Buenos Aires. A story so mighty, controversial, head spinning, and life changing that two millennia later we wonder: Might it Happen Again? Heaven knows we hope so. These are devastating times: 1.75 Billion people are desperately poor; one billion are hungry. Lonely hearts indwell our neighborhoods and attend our schools. In the midst of it all, here we stand: you, me, and our one-of-a –kind lives. We are given a choice….an opportunity to make a big difference during a difficult time. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? Worth a try, don’t you think? My Thoughts Sometimes it is easier to … [Read more...]

Ah-Choo! By Jennifer Ackerman Review and Giveaway

Posted on August 28, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

Ah-Choo! : The Uncommon life of your Common Cold by Jennifer Ackerman On The Back A quarter of the people infected with a cold virus don’t get sick. What’s so different about these folks? When it comes to colds, being young is no advantage: Teenagers catch twice as many as people over fifty. It’s strange but true: If you went to tamp down cold symptoms, “boosting” your immune system is actually the last thing you want to do. The ways colds spread may surprise you. You’re probably less likely to get a cold from kissing or getting sneezed on, than you are from a simple handshake. My Thoughts I enjoy reading different books because it is fun to expand my knowledge. That is why I agreed to review Ah-Choo! By Jennifer Ackerman. Ah-Choo! is filled with many fun and interesting facts like did you know there is a t-Rex dinosaur at a Museum in Chicago that scientists believe died of a sore throat? Very interesting! Another fun fact I learned is that the medical term for … [Read more...]
