How to make a Magnetic Makeup Board!
DIY Magnetic Makeup Board As most of you know I have really been focused on getting my house organized. My main focus the past month has been my bathroom. This includes organizing my makeup. Recently someone posted a picture on facebook about a Magnetic Makeup Board. I thought this idea was amazingly brilliant and would be super cheap and easy to make! So I thought I would give it a try! Plus it would give me a chance to see all the makeup I had instead of digging around my makeup bag for everything! The first step to this project was finding the perfect picture to turn into a magnet board. For this I went to my local Thrift Store. I found a picture frame that would work and purchased it for $3.50! Once I got the picture frame home I got to work on my project. The first step was removing the backing from the picture frame. This picture was held together by staples so we took a screwdriver and removed all the staples from the backing. Next my husband took the glass out of … [Read more...]

Easy ‘Tie Dye’ the Kids can do!
Items Needed:Sharpie MarkersWhite T-ShirtBowl (any size)Rubber-bandrubbing alcohol 1. First you will need to decide where you would like your tie dye to be located on the t-shirt. Then place that spot over a bowl and use a rubber band to hold the shirt in place. This will also stretch the shirt allowing a nice canvas to easily draw on. 2. Let the kids draw away! Anything they like! After the kids have finished up their artwork on the t-shirts you will then take rubbing alcohol and lightly pour the alcohol over the drawing. It is easiest to do this in a bottle with an applicator tip. But if you don't have one that is okay as well... The rubbing alcohol will then let the colors bleed out making if kind of a fun tie dye effect the kids will love! - Next let dry! That's it! Now your kids have a new cool shirt to wear!....I have never washed these shirts to I am not sure it will stay..we just do it for the fun of it! … [Read more...]

DIY Pickle Jar Candy Dishes!
Recenlty I found a great idea at a local craft fair in town and if you know me at all you know that when I see a craft I have to try to figure it out myself! - The craft was a pickle jar candy dish! Since seeing that cute craft I have now made many of them and love how fun they are to make and how neat they look in the house! Recently I also made some for Christmas gifts for my loved ones! First I took an empty pickle/pepper jar and washed it out and removed the label. Second I painted a wooden candle stick white along with the lid of the pepper jar (I found the candle sticks at Michaels, they also had glas candle sticks that will work well) After I painted the lid and candle stick I took E6000 glue and glued the jars onto the candle sticks. After the glue has dried I filled the jar full of candy! It really was that easy!! There is also a Pottery Barn coupon code for those looking for discounts on household items … [Read more...]
Guest Post-DIY Fabric Softener
Many of you may or may not know the risks involved in thesimple act of adding a cup of fabric softener in your kids’ load oflaundry. How can something as fuzzy andadorable as a teddy bear named Snuggle be bad for your kids? Pretty easily, as it turns out. The main ingredients of most fabric softenersare as follows: · Surfactants · Fragrance · Undenatured ethyl alcohol Surfactants are in everything and can be harmless if madefrom safe sources like vegetables instead of sodium lauryl sulfates. Fragrances, however, are tricky; companiesaren’t required to release the ingredients of fragrances to protect their tradesecrets. This means they could be usingbleach for fragrance, if bleach would sell. Meanwhile, ethyl alcohol has been suspected of causing liver damage andbeing an endocrine disruptor. Thesetoxins don’t just harm you and your kids—they go down the drain and into ourwater system to pollute the earth, too. The biggest and most widely relevant … [Read more...]
My Decoupage Boxes!
My Daughter and I have recently been creating these fun decoupage boxes! They are easy to do and look oh so cute! You Will Need Premade wooden box (found at hobby store) Scrapbook Paper Packet Stickers Decoupage ( I like the Glitter kind for these) Scissors Glue Stick Paint Brush How to: First off my daughter and I cut different shapes out of the scrap book papers. We then glued them all over the box making sure to cover it entirely. After the box was fully covered with the papers we decided where to place the fun stickers. Then the final step was to take a paint brush and coat the box with the decoupage! Coat all sides except one (to allow box to sit and dry) When drying is completed you may then coat the last side of the box and make sure that there are no papers lifting. If they are than just add a little more decoupage! So far my Daughter and I have made these for Thank You Gifts, Teacher Gifts, and Wedding Gifts...but the possibilities are endless! … [Read more...]
