5 Tips on How to Have a Successful Home-schooling

Posted on July 11, 2019 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

*Guest Post Home-schooling can be a frustrating experience especially if you have active kids that keep getting distracted. But that doesn't mean that it is impossible to home-school your kids with success. If it is done correctly, it can be a rewarding experience for parents. The following are 5 tips on home-schooling your kids. Keep the Study Sessions Short Parents should not force the children to sit down for a long time and finish all their studies at one time. Children have a short attention span so parents should create short learning sessions. In this way, the child will be eager to sit down and finish all the study assignment since he knows it will be soon when study time is over. You can use persuasion to make your children sit down to study, for example, no study no TV, cook his favourite food if he studies, or take him cycling at the park if he studies. Make Lesson Learning Fun Parents should try to make the lesson learning fun. Research shows that kids … [Read more...]

Homeschooling on the Road on a Budget

Posted on July 9, 2019 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

*Guest Post If you do school at home, you homeschool. If you do it on the road, it stands to reason that you “roadschool!” There are as many options available to roadschoolers as there are to homeschoolers . . . and there are thousands. You could spend thousands of dollars on museums and activities. You could even consider it money well spent if it goes to furthering your child’s education. But, maybe you don’t have thousands to spend. Your child’s education does NOT need to suffer as a result. In fact, their education will be incomparably enhanced if you take advantage of the low-cost opportunities all around you as you travel the country. There are inexpensive and even free ways to enhance your homeschooling across the country, you just need to know where to look. Reciprocal Museum Memberships Reciprocal memberships offer discounted or free admission to participating museums, zoos, aquariums, and more all over the United States. DIY Liquid Sidewalk Chalk

Posted on April 14, 2016 / By: Krista 6 Comments

DIY Liquid Sidewalk Chalk   I love how much the weather has been warming up here recently. My girls and I have been spending more and more time outside. It seems like every home school lesson I give my oldest she is begging me to let her go do it outside. I love it! Seeing her thrive outside is really getting my mind turning and focusing more and more on lessons that we can do outside that will still help her to learn the home school lessons she needs to learn. A few days ago we did a fun science lesson that talked about chemical reactions. During that lesson we were able to make some fun and amazing Liquid Sidewalk Chalk. It was so much fun to make and watch react. Plus the drawings and designs on my driveway made it all the more fun and special. I love watching my daughter when her creative wheels are turning. Plus this is something that she will be able to make and do over and over again this summer.     Recently I have been … [Read more...]

All opinions are mine alone. #SnugHugs #CollectiveBias  DIY Diaper Bouquet Using Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers!   My daughter was in diapers when I first moved to my new town 10 years ago. Being new to town I didn't know much about the shopping or the stores. I do however, remember that I was excited to have a Sams Club. My husband had been a Sams Club member for year. But we were not able to make it to Sam's Club very often from where we lived before. As soon as we moved, I knew that that was about to change. Upon visiting Sams Club for one of the first times since I moved to town, I discovered that they had amazing prices on diapers. I loved that I was able to get huge packages at great low prices. As most of you know, we welcomed home a new baby girl in November. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, we started stocking up on diapers and such. Thank goodness I had the great experience … [Read more...]

Candy Corn Inspired “BOOing” Kit with Hershey!

Posted on October 21, 2015 / By: Krista 19 Comments

** This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TrickOrSweet #CollectiveBias     Candy Corn Inspired "BOOing" Kit with Hershey!   One of my most favorite things about Halloween is the tradition my daughter and I have of going out and "BOOing" our loved ones. Each year we try to put together a fun kit that we can leave on the doorsteps of our loved ones to surprise them. None of them know that it is us and it is fun to know that we are leaving smiles on the faces of those who mean the most to us. This year my daughter and I came up with an idea to decorate party hats to look like Candy Corn. We thought these would be a perfect item to fill up with Hershey's candy from Walmart and leave hanging on the doors of our friends and family. As soon as we came up with the idea we headed over to our local Walmart and picked up some Big Bags of Hershey's candy, party hats, Crepe Paper and glue. We could not wait to … [Read more...]

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BringingInnovation#CollectiveBias    DIY Canister for Recycling Batteries     I don't know about you but here in my home we sure use A LOT of batteries. Between my husband, daughter and the children I babysit it seems that a weekdoes not go by that I don't have to add AA's or AAA's to my grocery list. I also know that it is soon going to get worse with the new baby and all of her toys and gadgets.   Recently while I was shopping at Walmart I came across a new battery made by Energizer® that caught my eye. They are called Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ batteries and they are the first battery to be made from recycled battery materials. I think this idea is ingenious and it's so fun to see that all of our battery recycling efforts over the years have not been in vain. Energizer® says that It's another step in our journey to bring performance and … [Read more...]

Disneynature Monkey Kingdom

Posted on September 9, 2015 / By: Krista 1 Comment

** I was provided with a copy of this title for the purpose of this review. However, my own opinion was used and not influenced in any way. Disneynature Monkey Kingdom   I look forward to every single Disneynature film that is released. Recently I was able to watch Disneynature's Monkey Kingdom with  my family. This is another great Disneynature film that will pull you right into the lives of beloved animals. It was neat to see the characteristics and lifestyles of these Monkey's. They are a neat animal that lives by a class system that I never knew about. I learned about how the "lower" class of Monkey's live and how it actually benefited Maya in the end. Such a neat and uplifting story. I loved watching Maya as she defeated the odds and raised her son Kip the best way that she possibly could. It did not matter if it was in the Jungle or in the City. She is a great Mom! Disneynature Monkey Kingdom is a show that will not only educate you but will also pull at your … [Read more...]
