Walk Like You Have Somewhere to Go by Lucille O’Neal

Posted on April 6, 2010 / By: Krista Leave a Comment

I love reading autobiographies of other women. That is why I was so excited to read Walk Like You Have Somewhere to Go By Lucille O’Neal (Shaquille O’Neal’s mother.) It is so wonderful to read about others and the trials in their life. There were many things in Lucille’s book that made me think “Yep! I’ve been there!” or “I’ve felt that way too.” It just reminds me that in life we are not alone. Lucille went through many things in her life such as her parents ‘divorce when she was a young child, her youth filled with embarrassment because of her height, being a single teenage mom, a military wife, alcoholic, and divorcee . She made it through every trial that was thrown at her and faced it head on. Lucille knew what she wanted out of life for herself and for her children and she made sure they got it. She talks about the courage it took for her to go through a life full of depression, to a life full of God. In the beginning of the book Lucille says that she could not have told this story without coming full circle and I agree. I would recommend this book to anyone. It was very uplifting to read about some of the feelings she had as a mother and wife. At times I feel the way she did. I am happy that Thomas Nelson provided me with this book. I know that this will not be the last time I read it!
