A Little about Paige (littlewhitechapel)

1. Where are you from and a little about yourself?

The basics: My name is Paige, I’m 24, and I’m a newlywed living in the Chicago suburbs with my husband. My day job is at a radio station, but I don’t really consider that my career anymore. I want to work for myself.

Some fun facts: Spaghetti is my favorite food, purple is my favorite color, and Harry Potter is my favorite book series.

2. When did you start making jewelry?

Well, the first time I started I was about 12. My mom has always been crafty and once she learned what to do, she started showing me. I made jewelry on-and-off through high school, and then really got back into it after I graduated from college.

3. How did you decide the name for your shop?

Oh man, it’s actually a lame story. I originally wanted to name my shop something else but that Etsy username was already taken, so I sat there for a while, typing in wedding-y phrases until one was open. I suppose I could’ve named my shop whatever I wanted under a different username, but I wanted them to be the same so the shop was easier to recognize. Thus, Little White Chapel was born.

4. What is your favorite thing about owning your shop?

I’m in charge! If I don’t feel like doing something one day, I don’t have to! I also love the feeling of being completely responsible for something; it’s an excellent motivator.

5. What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

A couple of things. The materials themselves can be pretty inspiring, especially when I play with different combinations. Otherwise, I’ll get an idea from a book I’ve read, or a movie I’ve seen. Sometimes I do get inspired by other jewelry—that’s right, I’ll say it!—but I give the idea my own flair.

6. What items do you most enjoy making and why?

At the risk of sounding like a lazy blob, I like making earrings because they’re easy.

7. What is your favorite thing about being a seller?

To expand on answer 4, it’s very rewarding to look at the shop, and look at the inventory I have piled around my house and think, “I made that.” It’s also great to have a creative outlet other than fanfiction.

8. Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop or change in your shop this coming year?

I’m debating whether I should sub-divide my shop into jewelry for brides, bridesmaids, flower girls, and special guests, in addition to the necklaces, earrings, etc., that I categorize now. Otherwise, just expect more products!

9. Anything else you would like us to know?

    Well Krista, you were spot on about the virtual impossibility of choosing one favorite from Paige's delightful offerings!

    After "Favorating" any number of "items" – my list of most "favorite favorites" has been narrowed down to include the stunning Crystal and Glass Pearl Lariat – necklace, vintage aurora borealis, white, silver Crystal and Glass Pearl Lariat – necklace, vintage aurora borealis, white, silver…

    Also up there are the Tickle Me Pink Earring, the Aubergine Earrings and the Something Blue Earrings. I also love the simple basic white pearl creations/designs!
