Garden Gnome Sugar Cookies!
If you know me you know I am a sucker for Garden Gnomes. I have been collecting them for years and you will find many, many different ones spread throughout my garden and flower bed. They bring such joy and personality to my yard!
I love this time of year. It is finally starting to warm up enough for my to plant the spring crops in my garden. I can’t wait for Peas, Carrots, radishes and leafy greens! Oh and don’t even get me started on the beautiful flowers that are starting to green up and get ready to bloom!
To help get my family as excited as I am for Spring Planting I thought I would make a fun treat with all of them. These Garden Gnome Sugar Cookies are the prefect way to get in the planting mood and it something the kids will love!
Makes 10, recipes doubles well.
Ingredients-
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
1 2/3 cups flour
1 Tablespoon milk
Decorating-
1 cup red candy melts
1 cup blue candy melts
1 cup white candy melts
Miniature marshmallows
Decorating bag
1. Preheat your oven to 325° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together your butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Now mix in your egg and almond extract.
4. Then mix in your flour and milk.
5. Form your dough into a large ball and roll into flour if it’s still a little sticky.
6. Roll out your dough onto a lightly floured surface and use your ice cream cone cookie cutter to cut out your gnome shapes.
7. Also form several small nickle sized pieces of dough into balls, lightly press down and place onto your cookie sheet.
8. Bake for 13 minutes and let cool.
9. In 3 separate small microwave safe bowl‘s, heat your blue, red, and white candy melts on 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
10. Dunk the top point of your cookies into your melted blue or red chocolate smooth out with a spoon and place onto a piece of parchment paper to harden.
11. Scoop your white melted candy into a decorating bag and use it to stick the nose and marshmallows onto the face part of the cookie.
12. Let harden and enjoy!
