Halloween Safety Reminders Halloween is just around the corner and your kids are probably are begging you to take them shopping for a costume or at least to ‘hurry up’ and finish making theirs. But before you let your little trick-or-treaters go door to door, go over a these safety tips to ensure an enjoyable Halloween for everyone: Neighborhoods: Stick to neighborhoods that are well lit and not as busy with cars. Speedy Weekday Breakfast: Easy French Toast Egg Mug Scrambler The colder it gets outside, the harder it is to find time to eat a hearty, filling breakfast. School coming back in session makes the mornings much more rushed, and even if you’re not the one heading to class, colder, darker mornings make it so incredibly hard to get out of bed on time. So if you don’t have time to cook up a leisurely breakfast every morning this fall, don’t worry; this recipe is here to save you. Egg mug scramblers are some of the best easy breakfast recipes for busy mornings; they only use a few basic ingredients and take just a couple minutes to nuke in the microwave. This recipe uses cinnamon swirl bread and egg substitute for a sweet but healthy twist on a typically savory dish. Make one for yourself and every member of your family as you’re running out the door in the morning instead of grabbing a prepackaged breakfast pastry or stopping for high calorie drive-through food; everyone will be full … [Read more...]

A Fall DIY Quilting Project   Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons we have. The leaves start to change, the days are still warm but not sweltering, and there are plenty of happy memories to be created. Fall crafts are a great way to start the season out right. Recently, more traditional crafts have been gaining popularity. Quilting and other fiber arts are once again becoming popular hobbies. A fall quilt is a lovely addition to the home. Imagine sitting on the porch with a steaming cup of coffee and a nice warm quilt wrapped around your shoulders. You can also give quilts as gifts to loved ones. If well made, a quilt can last for generations. These crafts turn into valued family heirlooms. The first step is to find a pattern you like. There are plenty of patterns online, such as thequiltpatternshoppe.com and others. Some patterns you have to pay for while others are free. Just because a pattern is free, it does not necessarily mean that the quality is low. Many … [Read more...]

Great Driving Tips to Conserve Gas and Save Money While it used to be that you only had to worry about high gas prices in big cities and around tourist destinations, fuel prices in the most remote parts of the country are well over $3.00 a gallon these days. Therefore, no matter where you’re located, you’ve probably been worried about the effect of high gas prices on your wallet for quite some time now. In addition to driving around to find the best price on gas, you can also save money by making sure you’re getting the most out of the fuel you’ve already purchased. For example, having a clean air filter, using quality gasoline, and monitoring your speed will make the gas that’s already in your tank last longer. Here’s how: Clean Air Filter Everyone knows that changing oil is one of the best ways to prolong the life of a vehicle’s engine. Similarly, replacing your vehicle’s air filter periodically is the best way to prolong the life of the fuel in your gas tank. A cleaner air … [Read more...]
