MyThoughts on Scholastic’s Bob Books
I run an athome day care and the children are pretty young. Each day I try totake as much time out to teach them and get them ready for school.Recently I have been working on reading with two of my three year oldboys. At age three my daughter was reading stories by herself so Iknow this is a feat that is easily accomplished if you take the timeout each day and if you have the proper books to help them along. 
The books Ihave been using for the past couple of weeks are titled Bob Books andthey are made for beginning and advanced readers! The recommended ageis 3-5 and so I knew that this would be perfect for the two boys!
I pulled outthe first Bob book which focuses on letters M,A,T, and S. After about10 minutes I had the boys knowing the sounds of the letters! Theywere so excited! After they knew the sounds and could name themrandomly as I pointed at the different letters I decided to start toread through the book. I read it the first time and really enunciatedeach and ever word as well as the sounds within the words. After Iread it I had the boys practice reading it. After about 10 trys(which may sound like a lot but really with their little minds isnot) the boys could recognize the words! I knew we were on tosomething. I worked on that book day after day until the boys couldsimply read through the book on their own. After I knew that they hadit down pat we moved onto the next book!
Each Bob Booksset contains 12 books. We have just started on book three and I amseeing an excitement toward leaning each and every time they sitdown! I love working with these delightful children and I know thatthe Bob Books are really helping the little ones to read! BuyIt!
