I’ve moved around a lot in my life, first with my parents and then with myhusband and the Air Force, but at heart I’m a Texas girl. I’m living in FortWorth now, but I’ve called San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Tyler, Dallas, andAustin home.
My shop is filled with original storybook style art. I love to paint whimsicalpieces–mostly for children–but sometimes I’m inspired to do something moretraditional. Not too long ago, I had a large sized canvas on which I wound uppainting a pastoral scene filled with sheep. Not my typical thing, but for somereason, I felt compelled to create it. More typically, I love to paintwhimsical owls. They have so much personality, they are a joy to create.
Nothing exciting about my shop name. It’s my nickname from college and I use itwhen I sign up for everything. I didn’t realize when I started Etsy I was goingto be stuck with it! I think I’ve grown into it though, and it works. I don’tthink I’d change it now if I could.
Do you have anything new you plan on adding to yourstore?
I am constantly painting something new, and I have new paintings listed almosteveryday. Right now, I’m working on creating two series. The first is acollection of brown bunnies doing various bunny things. The second is the OwlAlphabet series featuring my favorite whimsical owls. Some of these pieces arealready listed, some have sold, and some are on the way.
Do you have a blog, twitter, or facebook page?
My blog is filled with the create mayhem that goes in my house, specificallythe antics revolving around my eldest daughter. She is so funny and witty, sheinspires me everyday. It’s a new blog and in need of love. You can find ithere: childsphilosophy.blogspot.com/
And here is my FB fan page www.facebook.com/andralynncreativedesigns
What is your inspiration when making a new item?
Undoubtedly, my children are my inspiration. It’s their imaginations and loveof stories that give me all my ideas, and I never finish a painting until Ihave their input and approval.
The whimsical owls that are the focus of so many of my paintings are there fora good reason–I love to make them. They have such understated humor, they makeme laugh.
