Getting To Know Lilruby
I grew up in Elgin, Il which is a suburb of Chicago. Elgin used to be very well known for Elgin watches and my ancestors came over from Switzerland in the 1800’s to work at the watch factory. I now live in the Missouri Ozarks – although I still get homesick for Chicago, I sure don’t miss the brutal winters!My shop name, lilruby, is actually the pet name I have for my car – a red Mustang! I decided to use it for my shop because I think it’s easy to remember and it also works for jewelry.
Lately I’ve been passionate about the look of verdigris patina on brass, and plan to offer more of it in my designs. I’ve also been experimenting a little bit with resin.I don’t twitter, and right now I don’t have time for a blog, but I’d like to someday!
I’m inspired by many things, but my main inspiration is the beautiful flowing lines of Art Nouveau artwork and jewelry. I’m excited that a pair of my Art Nouveau earrings are featured in the Fall 2010 issue of Jewelry Affaire!
My Thoughts
Upon visiting Lilruby’s shop for the first time I was captivated by her earrings. They are unique and I knew instantly that they were in fact my style!
I also have to say something and that is that lilruby takes a lot of pride in the items she makes. I know this because I have NEVER had a package arrive that was so beautiful. I did not even want to open the envelope! But then I finally did and found that the box that contained my review items was just as stunning. I love the time and effort that lilruby puts into her work. She wants those that purchase her items to love her business even as they first look at the package. It really makes you feel special! Okay so now onto the jewelry. The bracelets as well as the earrings are put together beautifully. I love the choice of beads and everything holds up very well. Lilruby has used much thicker wire and higher quality beads and earring studs than I have seen in some.
Lilruby sells dazzling necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. She even makes matching sets! I would make a purchase from Lilruby! Not only is the quality amazing but the packaging is remarkable!
