Getting to know brownsco
Where are you from? and a little bit about youWe are Mike and Donna Brown a husband and wife artist team. We are located in Adamstown a small town in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. I work with wood, chalkware, clay and papier mache. My wife works with dried, fresh and artificial flowers and hypertufa. These creative passions led us in 2008 to start Brown’s Country Originals.
What items do you carry in your shop?
Vintage Seasonal Paper Mache and Chalkware sculptures. Also, we have hypertufa troughs, planters, birdbaths for the garden
How did you decide on your shop name?
Well it was kind of easy. We love country items and live in the country, so we knew the business name would have “Country” in it. All the items we create are “Originals” and our last name is “Brown” …. so we came up with “Brown’s Country Originals”
Do you have a blog, twitter, or facebook page?
No not yet… planning a facebook page for 2011
Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?
I would love to make a Noah’s Ark in paper mache
What is your inspiration when making a new item?I like vintage/country/primitive looking pieces, so old paper mache pieces and old greeting cards are my inspirations. I also like to view life thru a whimsical eye allowing me to add a whimsical twist to my work.
What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?I love making paper mache pieces because they are free form ….this allows me to apply a whimsical touch. The chalkware pieces are molded using antique molds, so I am bound by the molds.
