Where are you from? and a little bit about youI am from Westland, Michigan. I went to college at Michigan State University (go green!) where I received a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology. When I graduated, I left for Ghana to do the Peace Corps where I taught junior high school students science and computers. I miss it there everyday. When I got home I moved to East Lansing and was working as an assistant teacher at a preschool. I am currently pursuing my jewelry and looking into PhD programs in medical anthropology!
What items do you carry in your shop?
I carry brightly colored fun and bold jewelry pieces. Everything from necklaces to bracelets to earrings. I also make feather key chains that are in really vibrant colors.
How did you decide on your shop name?
I was talking with some friends about a name for my shop and somebody said something about how wearing the jewelry really makes you shine and so I went with Shine Designs.

What is your inspiration when making a new item?
Well, I just like mixing certain things together to see if they turn out how I picture them looking in my head. I love using bright colors and mixing colors. I also love classy trendy items and like to mix pearls into pieces to make it look more sophisticated yet noticeable. I like my pieces to either complete an outfit or make an outfit. Preferably the latter of the two.
What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?
I really love making the charm bracelets because whenever I finish one its always my favorite one I have made, until I make the next one. I am actually really loving my Africa Love collection. I love African animals and have been reading lots about Jane Goodall lately and her love of animals, chimps in particular, and thought I would incorporate this into a collection of feminine, bold pieces that feature animals that I love so much.
Anything else you would like us to know?
Umm, I can’t think of anything really besides that I really love making jewelry and seeing it worn by people. It makes me happy and I feel lucky everyday to be able to spend time doing it when I am able to!
Jewelry is such a fun way to spice up an outfit. I had the pleasure of reviewing a bracelet made by Roxanne at Shine Designs. I love it! Roxanne made me a white and black bracelet that can be worn with any outfit. It also has a pleastent jingle to it every time I move my hand. The bracelet arrived in a very pretty white bag. Sometimes I wonder how these stay sellers find such beautiful ways to package their
items. The bracelet also has some of the most beautiful accent beads in silver that adds the most perfect touch of class. The wire on the bracelet is also held together securely and the clasp was easy for me to put together without having to ask my husband to fasten it like I have to do with so many bracelets. I also love that it fit loosely and was not too tight on my wrist. Many times when I review a bracelet it is hard because it is too tight on my wrist. I am so glad this is not the case because this bracelet will be worn a lot by me! Roxanne has a very unique style to her bracelets. They are so fun and colorful. I am very impressed with her eye for detail and I know at her shop you can find the perfect accent for any outfit!
