Getting to know Robin ( MOCKFROGjewelry)
Where are you from? and a little bit about you
My name is Robin Adler, I’m a lifelong New Yorker. Married 26 years with a son & a daughter, a part time medical biller & jewelry designer. Together with my daughter Rachel we created MOCKFROG.
Anything else you would like us to know?
For the past 5 years, we have had this fascination with a vintage plastic known as bakelite, the first plastic ever mass produced. It was invented in 1907 by Leo Hendrik Baekeland, was made into radios, jewelry, household items, (even caskets) in a wide assortment of beautiful colors & textures . Most of our jewelry is made from old poker chips, & every each piece we sell is tested & guaranteed to be genuine.
How Did you Decide your shop name?
MOCKFROG was a line from an old Monty Python skit called Whizzo Chocolate. So far, only a couple of people have made the connection.

Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?

I guess it’s ok to let the cat out of the bag. Rachel & I have been working on decorative pillows soon to be unveiled in a brand new etsy shop we are calling MOCKFROGdecor

What or Who inspires you when making a new item?

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had the urge to create. It’s nice to know that my daughter shares that. I’ve always enjoyed designing through sewing, quilting, knitting.
