Where are you from? and a little bit about you
I’m originally from Victoria, BC Canada, but currently I’m living in Dundas, Ontario, Canada. I grew up in the boonies, so moving to Ontario was quite the culture shock! I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember, my whole family is artistic. My mum and dad do fibre crafts (my mum knits and my dad crochets), and my sister’s a painter. Extended family is all creative too, so I think there’s some merit to that nature versus nurture debate!!!
What items do you carry in your shop?
I started out carrying only toques, as that’s my main focus (I love winter – mountain bike season is only good enough to pass the time until snowboard season comes back around!). After I opened my Etsy shop, I started thinking about what I could make for the spring/summer/fall seasons. So now I carry all sorts of things, from potholders, washcloths, beer cozies, laptop and camera sleeves, to hairbands, bracelets, and rings. Chances are, if it can be crocheted, I can make it! I also make all my own patterns, so I continually keep challenging myself.
How did you decide on your shop name?
My husband actually suggested it. We currently live at the corner of Main and Hatt streets, and since I started with hats, and there are lots of Hatt St signs for photo ops, we decided on Hatt Street for the shop name.
Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?
I just made it through the April listing challenge, where I listed an item a day for every day in April, so I might take a little break!!! I’ll expand on my existing lines, and I have quite a few custom orders in the works, though, so I won’t be bored.

It is so funny sometimes the things that show up in the mail on the same days. On the day I received the Oven Mitt I also received some cooking items to review. I guess it was meant to be!
When I first knew I was going to review the Oven Mitt I was a little nervous about how thick it would be. Would I burn my hand through the yarn? The answer is NO. I am thrilled with how thick and tight each crochet stitch is. The Oven Mitt is also very comfortable to hold and the natural bend makes it easy to clamp my hand shut on the item I need. The first item I pulled out of the oven was Beer Bread and the mitt worked wonderfully. I also love that you can choose any color to match your kitchen needs! I am very impressed with the craftsmanship of Kendra’s work. I know that whatever you order will be done beautifully!
