The Pocket Therapist Review and Giveaway(CLOSED)

Posted on April 14, 2010 / By: Krista 25 Comments

Do you ever fell like you need a quick pick me up? Maybe a little thought to get you through the day? I do at times. That is why I was happy to get the chance to review ‘The Pocket Therapist’ by Therese J. Borchard.

My Thoughts

In this book Therese combines everyday life into short uplifting stories. I loved that I could pick up the book and be encouraged in just a few short words. Therese kept each story short, sweet, and to the point. I found each story inspiring with just enough humor to keep you interested in everything you are reading. There were also many stories that I thought to myself “Yeah, I’ve been there.” I think this book would be wonderful for anyone who just needs that daily uplift.

I would like this book, because I grew up with a abusive, mentally ill mother, and I am really now coming to terms with that.It is harder because I have a sister that was treated completely different than and now, than me.

I love books like this, I am always working to improve myself, but the problem is I have a hard time remembering all the good advice. Having a pocket sized version like this would be very helpful.

I like that this book seems to dole out good-sense advice along with light humor about mental health (or lack thereof). Really, I think you need to have a good sense of humor to stay psychologically healthy!

    Thanks, this looks great!

I would like this book because I love to laugh! Plus, I'm a little familiar with the author (through her blog) and actually really appreciate her approach to some very common problems. While I haven't seen this book before now, it sounds like a good book to have to flip through when you're feeling down. Some of the stories and advice would surely lift yoru spirits!

I liked that she has a blog, which I am now following, and I like that her chapters are bite-sized. One reviewer on Amazon commented that she no longer has time for books, and I agree with that full-heartedly. But I especially could use the advice in conquering anxiety/depression.

I would like this book because the author has contributed to "Psychology Today" and I love reading that magazine. It sounds like a great pick-me-up, minus the hourly therapy charge!

I like that its a reference, something I could refer to as needed, and not have to commit a chunk of time to go through all at once. Sometimes you just need that quick shot!

I would like this book because I am a person who over thinks things, and has come to expect the worst, and finds it hard to prepare for the best. I could use something to help jolt me out of my rut!
