My daughter’s favorite animal is a Dog. Because of that she was super excited when we received Penny and Rio the Mysterious Backyard Meeting by Jennifer Swanson. I am also thrilled to say that one of my lovely readers will have a chance to win a copy of this book! YAY!
Penny and Rio are two fun and friendly dogs. Penny is full of energy, and curiosity with a side of spunk! Rio is the complete opposite. Rio spends her days taking long naps! Penny and Rio have recently moved to a new house and Penny soon discovers that something is amiss. She does not understand why strange mixes of animals continue to meet in front of her house at night. But have no fear, Penny soon comes up with clever schemes to figure it out!
You will also be excited to hear that this is not the only book in the Penny and Rio series. Jennifer has also published Penny and Rio: The Locked Doghouse Mystery!
I could really envision Penny and Rio while I was reading this book. I as well have had family pets that are much like Penny and Rio. One full of curiosity and the other a good sleeper! One of my favorite parts of this book was the picture in the front that showed you the real Penny and Rio. Penny and Rio takes us on a great adventure that includes friendship and love. They both have a heart and are willing to help others in need! What a wonderful thing to teach kiddo’s! I would recommend this book to a child of any age. My 4 year old loved to hear me read this book to her as did the rest of my day care kids! I know that we will be reading this book many, many times as she grows older and we will be looking into the rest of the Penny and Rio adventures!
