Deep Sea Diver Review!!

I received a copy of Recess Monkey ~ Deep Sea Diver to review and we cannot stop listening to this cd!

You are going to want to Pre-Order this kindie rocker cd!! Deep Sea Diver releases June 18th!  I am telling you that you will not be disappointed in hooking onto this cd! Recess Monkey is an awesome band and their newest cd, Deep Sea Diver is absolutely amazing!

My kids are HUGE fans of these three elementary teachers in this Seattle based band. We listen to songs before bed and about every other night which includes kids music videos and both my son and daughter chose Recess Monkey to listen to which makes both my husband and I happy because we love their songs almost just as much as they do! Their videos are hilarious as well and they already have a new music video for one of the songs on this new album, Tambourine Submarine! Here is a glimpse of them listening to it!

My daughter’s favorite song on this cd happens to be Tambourine Submarine and my son’s favorite is Shrimp – a rap style song that talks about being the “small guy” and actually at the end being the tall one! Fish Sticks is another fun song that will be sure to make you want to get up and start moving around!

Recess Monkey ~ Deep Sea Diver has so many upbeat songs that it’s hard to chose just one favorite song. We have been listening to this cd in the car and yes I even car dance to some of these songs and as long as I have my sunglasses on, I am invisible! Or so my kids would like to think! This cd will be loved my kids of all ages and it would make such a great summer birthday gift!

With listening to Recess Monkey for a couple of years now, this cd by far has been the best – we of course have to listen to some of our all time favorites from the past albums but this cd has a different feel to it and it tends to go from song to song with a great flow and the recording of it is outstanding. Godefroy Heated Eyelash Curler Review!

My thoughts on the Godefroy heated eyelash curler – when I received this product to review I was quite excited yet nervous at the same time to try it out!

The Godefroy heated eyelash curler is shorter than a pencil so it actually would fit easily into a purse if you wanted to carry it around and it also has a lid to keep it protected. The bottom part of the curler comes off and that is where you put in one AAA battery and put the case back over it. Make sure that the lid on the top is off before you turn it on. The great thing is that there is a little light that turns green when it is on so you know it is working.

I at first was a little apprehensive of putting heat to my eyelashes and when reading the directions, you are to apply pressure onto the eyelid when smoothing the eyelash with the curler. I figured it would either burn my eyelashes off or work and lo and behold it worked! It not only worked but it worked great! You can feel that there is heat on the curler but not too much and it’s so gentle on the eyelash!

I really appreciated this product over the normal squeeze eyelash curlers because I end up breaking my eyelashes and pulling them and getting a solid crinkle in them. I couldn’t ever get the results I was looking for in the squeeze type eyelash curler. The heated eyelash curler just glided over the eyelashes and gently curled them and you can continue to glide them over until you have your desired look.

With this heated eyelash curler you can either curl your lashes with mascara on already which would be great for someone who is working all day and then headed out onto the town at night and can quickly pull it out of their purse and apply it. But also you can apply it to eyelashes that don’t have mascara on. I actually tried it both ways and both work for sure but I actually preferred to put the mascara on first. I found it to curl better for me with the mascara on.

Baked “Hard Boiled” Eggs

I love hard boiled eggs. They are one of my all time favorite snacks. Hard Boiled Eggs are high in protein and low in calories making them a perfect quick healthy snack. I love hard boiled eggs because I can peel and eat them just how they are or I can add them to my lunch time salads!

Even my daughter loves hard boiled eggs and often takes them in her school lunches.

Because of my family loving them so much I often make 2-3 dozen ‘hard boiled’ eggs each month. But, all that cooking was getting tiresome. The truth of it was I was either getting them over done or not done enough. That is whey I decided to start baking my ‘hard boiled’ eggs. I love this idea because it get’s the eggs cooked perfectly each and every time.

The first thing I do is make sure the baking rack is right in the middle of the oven.

Next I pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees.

Then I place the eggs on the baking rack. When doing this I make sure non of them are touching. Also if you have more then one rack in your oven I would advise you to place a rack on the bottom and place a cookie sheet on that rack. That way if any of the eggs break the mess will be easy to clean up. (I have never had an egg break so it does not happen often.)

Once the eggs are in the oven I bake them for 30 minutes. When they are done they will have brown spots on some as shown in the picture above. It is nothing to worry about.

Once eggs are done baking, remove them with a pair of tongs or something that will grab ahold of them. They will be HOT!

Immediatly place the Eggs into a sink filled with COLD ICE water. This will help to shock them and keep the yolks from turning that funky green color!

After sitting in the ice water for about 10 minutes your eggs will be done! Peel and enjoy right away or place them in the fridge and save for later! Yum!

Terra Firma Cosmetics Review!

I received an absolutely amazing starter kit from Terra Firma Cosmetics to review and I couldn’t be more pleased with what I found out!!

The Raspberry Natural Mineral Blush was the perfect shade for my cheeks and it added just the right touch of color to my face. I am not one to coat my face with a ton of makeup so I really do like the more natural and simple look so when I got these products to test I was a little nervous at how dark and overbearing it would be but to my surprise they matched my skin tone and I can now say I am a huge fan of Terra Firma Cosmetics!! I am going to break down for you what I was able to try out -

~ Eliminate Concealer Mineral Powder - this was great to cover up any red spots on my face, it worked perfectly and has a sifter style lid so you don’t get too much on your brush at once.

~Hydra Silk Mineral Foundation – this loose mineral foundation had more of a creamy texture and really helped smooth out my skin and might I add a fun fact here, the price you pay for this product and the amount you get with the price outweighs other name brand foundations! ~ Invisible Oil Blotting Finishing Minerals – does exactly what it says it does, it truly blots out the oil and prevented my face from becoming all oily in the T-zone where I generally show the worse

Memorial Day Weekend Recipe: Barbecue Chicken Dinner Packets

Memorial Day is one of the best holidays of the year for food-lovers, especially ones that like to grill. Whether you’re cooking out in your backyard or heading to your neighborhood block party, grilled food always steals the show during the long Memorial Day weekend.

It’s pretty safe to assume that you’ll run into your fair share of hot dogs, burgers and potato salad this Memorial Day, so try cooking something a little different to avoid burger overkill! There are dozens of alternatives to traditional grilled sandwiches, from quesadillas and kebabs to saucy tomato recipes like pizza, along with complete meals like the recipe below.

These Barbecue Chicken Dinner packets are unique in that every part of the meal (meat, potatoes and vegetables) cooks up in the same foil packet—meaning much less mess on your grill and easy cleanup later on! They’re also great for picky eaters since everyone can build their own packet to their personal tastes. This recipe puts a spin on your traditional grill foods and is so delicious that you’ll be making it all summer long!

Barbecue Chicken Dinner Packets

Prep Time: 15 min

Total Time: 40 min

• PAM Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
• ½ cup Hunt’s® Original Barbecue Sauce
• 2 cups thinly sliced small red-skinned potatoes (4-6 potatoes)
• 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (5 oz. each)
• 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
• ¼ cup chopped onion
• ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
• ½ cup shredded reduced fat cheddar cheese

Preheat outdoor grill to medium-high heat according to manufacturer’s directions. Place four 18×12-inch pieces of heavy foil on counter. Spray each with cooking spray. For each packet, spread a generous teaspoon barbecue sauce in center. Place 1/2 cup potatoes in single layer over sauce. Spoon another teaspoon sauce over potatoes.

Top potatoes with chicken. Spoon 1 teaspoon sauce over each breast. Top each with 1/4^th of the bell pepper, onion and black pepper. Bring up the short sides of each foil packet and double fold top. Double fold both ends to seal each packet, leaving space for steam to gather.

Place packets on the grate of covered grill. Grill 15 to 20 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink in centers (165°F) and potatoes are tender. Carefully open packets; sprinkle 1/4th cheese on top of each breast. Close foil and let stand 2 minutes or until cheese melts.

Tip: This recipe can also be made in the oven; bake packets in a shallow pan in a 425°F oven for 20 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink in centers and potatoes are tender.

Chloe’s Closet Super Best Friends on Sprout!

I had never heard of Chloe’s Closet before. But I knew that if it was on Sprout then it would be a great show!

Let me start out by saying that I wish when I was a kid that my closet did what Chloe’s Closet does in this show! It’s simply amazing!

This past week I received a copy of Chloe’s Closet Super Best Friends for the purpose of this review. I was excited to watch this new to me cartoon and I knew that the kids would be excited to see it as well.

Chloe is a bright young girl who goes on amazing adventures. Her imagination is endless as her closet is magical and can open up new worlds with each and every episode.

This Chloe’s Closet Super Best Friends DVD started out with Chloe and her friends being super hero’s. It was fun to see them try to help out the city from a hiccuping Gorilla.

In the next adventure Chloe is on a mission to help her friends as she is a doctor and needs to try to help lots of toys with their crazy ailments!

I love Mickey Mouse. He is one of my all time favorites and I still get still get star struck every time I see Mickey at Disneyland!

My New Kitchen!!

Phase 1 -

Ever since moving into my home my husband and I have talked about adding cupboards in our kitchen. In my opinion you can never have enough counter top or cupboard space!

Recently thanks to our tax refund check and a hefty Christmas gift from my father we were able to finally extend out the cupboards and counter tops in my kitchen. This is the first step in a long list of things we are hoping to do this summer…but I must say I was so excited to finally get it done!

This is what the space looked like before. When guests would come over for dinner I would put up a folding table in that gap where we could place the food. But other then that there was just an empty gap there….

This is my husband cutting away the base board. We needed to get rid of that so that the cupboards would fit evenly with the other ones that were already there. 

While my husband was cutting away the base boards I was out staining the wood on the new cupboards. Since they were unfinished I needed to get some stain and sealer on them.

Hanging the cupboards was a much easier task then I had anticipated! YAY!

The bottom cupboards of course were not the same height so my husband had to cut away part of the bottoms of the cupboards to get them to fit exactly.

Now they are a perfect fit!

Yes I know that the counter tops do not match. That was as close as we could get…but be watching for phase 3 of my kitchen remodel. I will show you how to quickly and easily get your counter tops to match!  Oh look at all this space! Now onto the next thing…refinishing the cupboards and counter tops! Soon everything will match in my new kitchen! YAY! I am so excited to have all this space and counter space to put everything!

The Jesus Passages

I am a huge fan of journalism I have kept a diary/journal since I was a young child. It is kind of funny because I always wrote out my journal entries to my daughter….YEARS before I even had her.

One of my most favorite things to journal about is God.

Recently I received a copy of The Jesus Passages by Ron Gannett for the purpose of this review.  I was honestly excited for this book to arrive because I knew that it would help me expand on my thoughts….and my journal.

In The Jesus Passages you will find 267 passages from the scriptures. After you read the scripture you will be able to ponder on what it means to you. There is a ‘Hook’ question that will make you really stop and think about the scripture and what it means to you. Then you can read ‘Book’ to see what that passage meant to the author. It is a great way for some extra insight into the scripture and can really get you to ponder on different aspects and passages. After the ‘Book’ is the ‘Took’ this is where your journal comes in….For the ‘Took’ section you are able to write down answers to the questions in your journal.

I must say that this book is amazing. It allowed me to bring so much insight into my life. Questions that I have had about my life have not been answered.

If you are looking for answers or if you are trying to find a way to feel closer to the Lord then I recommend you read The Jesus Passages. There is even a guide in the back of the book where you can search by topic. No matter what issues and problems you might be feeling in your life you can find your answers through prayer and journalism. This is a book that I will be reading time and time again!

God’s Warhorses!

My Thoughts on God’s Warhorses – I lived a sheltered life as a child. I say that because I do not remember having sickness around me. My family (including all my extended family) was healthy. I had my parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sickness and death was not something I ever really thought about.

It was not until I was 21 that I first had an experience with Cancer. My Grandpa was diagnosed and it seemed that before anyone in the family could blink by Grandpa was gone from this world.

My next experience with cancer was just last year. My Aunt told the family that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This rocked the family of course because everyone knew what had happened with Grandpa. It was just a few short weeks from his diagnoses until his death. It was very quick and rapid for him and heart breaking for the family.

So far months later my Aunt is still doing great. She is finishing up her last radiation treatments before she will hopefully get the news that she is now cancer free. That is the news that the whole family is longing to hear and we are constantly praying for that each and every day.

Recently I was sent a copy of God’s Warhorses by John J Chaya for the purpose of this review. To be honest when the book arrived I did not know that it was about a cancer journey. As soon as I opened the first page and read the title ‘God’s Intentions and Power in my Cancer World‘ I was intrigued and I knew that I had to read this book.

I can not imagine going through cancer. I know that I have heard tons of stories and such…but it is really hard to put yourself into the situation and life of others. It is one of those things that you just don’t understand unless you have lived with it yourself.

In this book God’s Warhorse I was able to have an inside look into the life of cancer. John’s world was torn apart as he went through the treatments and the pain of cancer. It was hard for him to accept God’s will in the beginning. But in time he learned to understand that there are times to fight and then there are times to let God hold you.

I really enjoyed reading John’s words on his cancer journey. I found this book to be uplifting and very spiritual  Throughout the book John will let you know the scriptures and kind words that helped to get him through and to give him a better understanding about God’s plan for him.

If you are going through anything in your life where you feel alone and you are struggling or you know someone who is…then please read John’s book God’s Warhorses. It will really help to change the way you look at life and help you to be more positive. No matter what God is here for you! He loves you and wants you to be happy.

My Thoughts on Butter Chuck!

I find it empowering to teach children to be who they want to be. At a young age I taught my daughter the importance of loving her self and not caring what others around her might say or think.

That is exactly why I love the book Butter Chuck so much!

Recently I was sent a copy of this book with a Butter Chuck plush for the purpose of this review. I was excited to read Butter Chuck with the kids because I knew that it could help to open up discussions about not only being who you want to be but also discussion son bullying.

Butter Chuck is a woodchuck who longs to be a butterfly. He is often taunted and teased for being the person he wants to be. He dreams of being a butterfly with beautiful wings. But, unfortunately the other woodchucks around him do not understand and so they taunt him and call him names.

One day as Butter Chuck is longing for his dream to come true he finds himself carried away to a far away land. This is where he meets a beautiful butterfly who gives him words of encouragement. Butter Chuck learns to embrace who he is and not worry about what the other woodchucks think. Because of his embrace something magical happens to Butter Chuck…what do you think that will be?
