Otto’s BBQ Funyun Meatloaf

BBQ Funyun Meatloaf Meatloaf...what can I say. Some love it and some hate it. When I first moved to a new town my husband quickly made friends with a guy who loved to cook. He would rave about his amazing modernized meatloaf. To be honest it actually sounded really good so my family gave it a try. It is now a staple in our home. My husband cooks twice a week and I must say that he makes this at least once a month and each month he switch's out the 'chips' that he use's to give this meatloaf a fun twist. In this recipe he used Funyun's but he has also used Doritos, Cheetos, and Lays, or even a mixture of all of them! Another fun thing you can mix and match is the BBQ sauce. I have never found a BBQ sauce that does not taste amazing in this recipe, so grab your favorite one and have some fun! Ingredients: 4 lbs ground beef (can also use Turkey, Chicken, etc....)4 oz Funyons + some for top1/2 bottle BBQ sauce (any flavor) - 1/4 in meat and 1/4 for top2 eggs1/4 tsp pepper1/2 tsp garlic … [Read more...]

Lawry’s Marinade Review!

logo (1)

We use a lot of marinades at my house. Especially during the summer months when it is perfect weather for grilling! Recently I was able to review Lawry's new Santa Fe Chili and Herb & White Wine marinades! They of course were delicious! Lawry's Herb & White Wine- For this flavor I decided on grilled salmon. It turned out great! We just purchased some fresh salmon and came home to marinade. It takes 30 minutes to marinade before you grill. After the 30 minutes were up we wrapped the fish in tin foil and placed on the grill. We grilled the fish about 3 minutes per side (or until done). That was it, then we had a perfect meal! Santa Fe Chili-  For this marinade I decided on steak. I had some elk steak in the freezer (any steak will work). I marinaded the steak for 30 minutes and then grilled it on the grill. After we grilled the steak's we sliced then and I placed them into flour tortillas and added fresh corn, tomatos, cilantro, onion and garlic. We then had home … [Read more...]

The Flavors of Fourth of July

Celebrating our country’s independence, the Fourth of July traditionally honors American pride. From fireworks to feasts, this upbeat day highlights American pastimes across the country. In Maryland, locals serve up crab cakes  fresh from the Eastern shore, while Pacific Northwesterners  grill salmon and peas, a meal native to the area. In the Midwest, you’ll find Wisconsin Cheeseheads broiling trout and Indiana Hoosiers  grilling steak and sweet corn. From local meats to patriotic desserts, the Fourth is a time to honor local American cultures, but with growing appreciation for our melting pot make-up, many Fourth of July feasts are seeing some international flavors. I know what you’re thinking — crab meat and salmon are expensive! And that is generally true, but after all, the Fourth of July only comes once a year. There are plenty of delicacies to dive into but you don’t have to go broke doing it. If you’re cooking on a budget, check-out online coupon sites like Valpak and look … [Read more...]
