Winters Coming – A Story of Seasonal Change by Jan Thronhill
Winters Coming by Jan Thornhill is a cute little story about a snowshoe hare who does not know who winter is. As she treks through the forest she encounters lots of animal friends. Birds, squirrels, turtle, mosquito, frogs and more. Each animal she encounters is preparing for winter. Unfortunately Lily is not sure what winter is and thus she does not know how to prepare for it. Each time she meets a new friend she speaks with them about the things they do to get ready for winter. Each time she also asks if that is what she is supposed to do. It is a cute and cleverly written book that will not only carry your children along on a fun adventure but they will also learn many fun facts along the way. One of the things that the kids learned at my house is what turtles do all winter long. It was honestly a surprise to me as well. I guess I never thought about them living through a winter. But now I know! The back of the book also has some fun Animal and Environment Facts. You can learn lots more about the fun animals that are featured in this book! It is a great read and will have the children learning all the way through it!
