My Thoughts

When I first opened up this book I was nervous because there are not many pictures and the ones that are in the book are black and white. I thought “Well this will not hold my daughters attention for long.” Boy was I wrong! This is one of the few chapter books that has kept my daughters attention all the way through the book. She is still young and many times I have to put books down and try again later. She was enjoying the book so much that she did not want it to end!

For me as well as my daughter this is one of our favorite childrens books. I love the characters names as well as the story line. My daughter was learning about animals without even realizing it. Each page has a boarder of animal tracks that shows you what the tracks of the animal being investigated would look like. I think that is the cleverest idea I have seen in awhile. As we were reading my daughter kept asking me about each track and we had fun matching them to the animals in the story.

After reading Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill my daughter dug her magnifying glass out of her toy box and headed outside to solve a mystery. It was super cute!

At the end of the book there are some animal facts about each animal. I love that Renee Hand not only wrote a wonderful story but she paired it with education. I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone. I just cannot express how much I love this book!

  2. I learned there are coloring pages to go along with the book. The book sounds wonderful and coloring pages will help keep the younger kids focused while a parent is reading it to them.

  3. This book would be for my son and the new one on the way. Reading is such a very important part in every child's life and can't start them to young.

  4. the author has been writing for over twenty years and has been a published author for five years with five works published.

  6. The reader will be reading and learning about various skills that will supplement what children will be learning about in school. In book 1 your child will begin to learn about deduction and reasoning as well as about animal tracks and some of the animals who make them.

  9. I really like the nature adventure component of this book. My oldest daugther has a sensory processing disorder that makes reading a not pleasurable experience for her. But she loves to go on nature adventures with her Popaw, so this would really capture her interest!
